Oma Leyendecker "Mom" and Stuart
Yesterday was a really special day and I just have to share. Mr. D's mother invited us to a luncheon where she was to be honored. It was a luncheon to honor the Daughters of Charity of San Antonio. Mr. D's mother has been a volunteer there for many many years, since Mr. D was a little child. When Mr D.'s father passed about 5 years ago, mom worked with the Daughters of Charity to develop a Foundation in their name that would benefit the Childhood Development. Mr. D's father loved children. Four of the eight children were able to attend and it was such a special occasion and a reminder for me of how incredibly blessed I am to have found this wonderful man and family to become a part of...abundant blessings.
The keynote speaker was Father Ron Rolheiser, he is an author and inspirational speaker. His talk was incredibly inspirational. He talked about when times get hard and we are tired of doing service to the Lord that we must persevere and keep on keeping on because God's love is so generous and we need to act in that same way and be generous and giving. It was such a nice afternoon.
Mom was given a beautiful painting of San Antonio as a reminder of her good service to this community. Even today Mom serves on the bereavement committee at St. Pius and let me tell you sometimes I wonder how she manages it, but God always provides.
